"Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it's only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential." -Barack Obama.
"The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty, and all forms of human life." -John F. Kennedy.
I commented a while back but I am more then happy to critique this. Technically the perspective is great. It adds to the emotional aspect of this piece. Showing the subject sitting on the side walk leads the viewer to think either the man is tired or he is waiting, or possible both. Here he sits and waits to make his income. There is a bin overflowing with peanuts and he is holding a single bill. Possibly he is having a slow day of business. The cart looks a bit old but it gets the job done. In the background you note people walking about to other businesses. Do the people not notice the man? He also has no shoes which one can assume he does not have much money. It has a strong sense of what it takes to survive in these economic times. Excellent work!
Peanut carts! Yeah... I know how difficult it is to make a living especially in the streets of Manila. Ive been there.. its not a pretty place. The streets of the PI is both lively and harsh. The natural smell of sweat and dust resonates in the air... I used to love the sugar coated peanuts sold in front of my aunties salon. Good memories. Thank you.
